Global Head of Marketing Capability

Our client is a highly successful marketing consultancy, specializing in brand strategy, and innovation. They also help clients to develop their own marketing capabilities…strengthening their marketing processes so they can become better marketers themselves. This involves creating ‘best practice’ marketing processes and tool kits and then training & coaching marketers on how to use these approaches. In some companies this is referred to Marketing Academy or Marketing Excellence. This work has covered the marketing disciplines of marketing planning, market mapping & segmentation, insight, brand strategy, creativity and innovation. This is seen as a major area for business growth and we are now looking for someone to head up our client’s Marketing Capability practice on a global basis. The role will have the following key responsibilities:- • Developing/improving tools and approaches in marketing capabilities • Widening their offer to other areas of marketing capability • Creating a new business and marketing strategy to grow the number of clients they have in this area. • Leading major pitches/proposals • Engaging with senior clients on major projects to support delivery of excellent marketing capability programs.

You can be based at any of their group locations. The idea will be for you to develop this as an offer across the group, rather than in any one fixed location, hence regular travel will be involved. It fundamental that you can position yourself as a seasoned marketer, with the gravitas needed to engage with international marketing directors/CMOs – hence you’ll have probably held senior client side roles in addition to having significant experience in developing and implementing major marketing capability projects (client side and/or in a successful consultancy) The client side experience may have involved setting up marketing academies or teaching on them. Ambition to develop the offer and make it a commercial success is also key.

Experience: • Has created and delivered major marketing capability programs, either client side or as a consultant working in a major consultancy. • Senior client side experience at marketing manager level or higher • Successful winner and developer of client relationships • Experienced facilitator and trainer • Proven project manager and initiative leader • Experience working in international markets would be beneficial

Skills & Qualifications: • Good communication skills • Bright, intelligent and inspiring • Passion for delivering great quality work • Ability to lead skill area within the business, engaging key Directors around the group • Ability to grow a line of business over time • Ability to lead people and manage a team • Flexible with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude • At least a 2.1 degree from a top university
