New Business / Marketing Manager
Overview Our client is a leading brand strategy consultancy. In order to sustain continued growth they wish to make a key addition to their business development and marketing team.
This is a key ‘push’ role in the new business process existing between cold selling activities (e.g. arranging ‘colder’ meetings’, networking, running a ‘leads follow-up’ system) and the conversion of new business with the consultancy triads.
The Main Purpose of role is to use real practitioner understanding of brand strategy and innovation to improve the quality and relevance of the new business effort…. … from the creation of ‘initiatives’ to interest both warm and cold prospective clients to working closely with consultancy teams to improve the effectiveness of existing client growth plans (farming).
Candidate Requirement You will need to have a real interest in brand consultancy but more through developing the opportunity and client relationship/account than detailed project delivery
You’ll be instinctively interested in new business development but more from point of view of overall ‘marketing’ than in just the cold selling part of the process
You are likely to have been in marketing/new business roles in a brand, innovation or strategic design consultancy or an Account/Projector Director/Consultant in the same environment.
Main Responsibilities Working closely with new business team colleagues and consultancy heads:
Develop ‘initiatives’ to attract attention/interest and secure meetings with prospective clients (e.g. ‘sound bites’, mailers, thought pieces)
Create ‘events’ to demonstrate their approach to prospective clients and show them how our client can add value
Arrange follow-up meetings with prospects invited to/attending these ‘events’
Extend these ‘platforms’ and activities into PR opportunities and work with colleagues/external PR ‘agents’ to deliver them
Develop ‘tailored credentials’ for key new business meetings, in conjunction with other colleagues
Work with teams to create new opportunities with existing clients.
Help teams to interpret briefs from clients/prospects and provide inputs on developing proposals and ‘staging’ pitch presentations
Develop general marketing collateral material to help the ‘selling-in’ process (e.g. case studies, creds presentations, printed material)
Develop and execute selective sector marketing packages, coordinating relevant elements of the mix (e.g. events, conferences, presentation advertising)
If you want to work within a genuine meritocracy where initiative is rewarded and opportunities for personal advancement abound, then this might well be an opportunity worth examining.
